New Wind Farm development Partnership with Coriolis Energy Launched

Falck Renewables and Coriolis Energy have teamed up to develop a new round of onshore wind farms in the UK.

Building on its recent success, Falck Renewables is looking to further expand its portfolio in its four key markets; the UK, Italy, France and Spain. As such Falck Renewables is pleased to announce a new long term partnership with specialist wind farm developer Coriolis Energy.

Under this agreement, Coriolis will be responsible for identifying new sites and leading these through the development process with Falck Renewables taking over once planning consents have been obtained to finance, construct and operate each of the projects developed. By working together Coriolis and Falck will each be able to exploit their unique talents to the full while also providing landowners and other project stakeholders with a secure, through-life partner.

The principals of Coriolis have an excellent track record and to date been responsible for the successful development of 12 wind farm projects in the UK with a combined capacity of more than 300 MW. These range from a 2 turbine, 3 MW project in Lincolnshire through to a 24 turbine, 55 MW project near Thurso in northern Scotland. David Murray, Managing Director of Coriolis Energy said:

“We are delighted to have finalised our partnership with Falck Renewables and look forward to working with them to develop a range of wind farm projects in line with the UK’s target of producing 20% of its electricity supplies from renewable sources by 2020. Coriolis will be progressing projects right across the UK and have already begun to identify sites to bring to the partnership.”

Willie Heller, Managing Director of Falck Renewables said:

“The Coriolis team has a proven track record of successfully developing wind project and we believe that in partnership with Falck they can help add significantly to our existing portfolio of UK projects.”

The UK has 40% of Europe’s wind resource but currently only 4% of its wind farm capacity. Wind farms are the most commercially and technologically advanced form of renewable energy and both Falck and Coriolis are committed to playing a major role in deploying this to help meet the climate change challenge.
