Falck Group Inaugurates Esquennoy Breteuil wind farm

Falck Renewables Plc (Falck Group) inaugurated the Esquennoy Breteuil wind farm on 19 March, 2010, which consists of 5 Nordex N90 LS wind turbines each rated at 2.40MW with a hub height of 100m. The project provides sufficient clean green energy to supply more than 10,000 homes and avoids the emission of around 20,000 tonnes of greenhouse gases each year which would otherwise have been produced by a power station burning fossil fuel, or 56 kg per year of nuclear waste which would otherwise have been produced by a nuclear plant.

The total wind farm capacity of the Falck Group is now over 400MW across our key markets of France, the UK, Italy and Spain. The inauguration was attended by the Mayor of Esquennoy Mrs Rivière and the  Mayor of Breteuil Mr. Cotel; the Senator of Oise, Mr Vassel; the Chairman of the Falck Group, Mr Federico Falck; the  Managing Director of Falck Renewables, Mr William Heller; staff of Falck Renewables; Nordex,  the developer, supplier and builder of the wind farm, and landowners.
Esquennoy Breteuil farm is located on the community of Les Vallées de la Brèche et de la Noye, which had an open approach to wind energy development by including this site in the local wind development scheme.

Mrs. Riviere said “We are pleased to participate in this event to demonstrate our commitment to sustainable energy production”. The Mayor highlighted the importance of the wind farm projects to the local economy. Mrs. Riviere said “We are pleased with our  co- existence with the wind farm, which brings additional substantial revenue for landowners and to the town”.

Esquennoy Bretuil wind farm is Falck Renewables’ third wind farm operating in France and represents an important part of our strategy of developing, constructing, financing and operating a high quality portfolio of wind projects in France that began in 2005.  Federico Falck concluded his remarks by saying that “we at Falck are pleased to be working here in such a beautiful region of France and we look forward to a long and prosperous cooperation”

Nordex France SA supplied the turbines and built Esquennoy Bretuil wind farm, which started its operation in July 2009. Nordex now operate the wind farm under an operation and maintenance agreement.

The financing for the project was provided by Landesbank Baden-Württemburg (LBBW), a leader in the funding of renewable energy projects around Europe, under the same portfolio facility used to finance the other two Falck wind farms operating in France.  All 3 projects have now been fully integrated into Falck Renewables high-tech wind farm monitoring system operated from Rennes and Inverness, Scotland.
