La Muela
Falck Renewables is concerned with sustainable development as a constant objective, but above all a way of life and conduct; the safeguarding of the environment and the health of the inhabitants of the territory is a main priority. Falck has successfully operated over 120 MW of wind power in Spain for 4 years now.
The growth of wind energy capacity in Spain is due to a combination of an attractive tariff and the Government’s commitment to renewable energy. The Spanish Government has set a target of 13,000MW of installed renewable energy capacity by 2010. The tariff system for renewable energy which allows for a premium to be paid in addition to the price for electricity, was introduced by Royal Decree 2818/1998 and subsequently revised by Royal Decree RD 436/2004 and RD 661/2007. The tariff provides the option of either taking a fixed price tariff or pool price plus a renewables premium.
