Community

Economic benefit will be provided to the local area during the construction and operation of the wind farm, but in addition, in order to provide additional community benefit, Millennium Wind Energy Limited proposes to work with the local community to expand the existing Community Wind Farm Trust. This will enable support to be given to local social, educational and environmental initiatives. The local community will receive £1,000 per MW direct payment and £1,000 per MW via the Community Co-Operative.

A commitment to this sort of investment in the local areas will enable assistance to be given to, for example:

* Initiatives to promote sustainable local site development and tourism
* Environmental education initiatives;
* The promotion of local recreation infrastructure such as improvements to existing community infrastructure such as bridleways, footpaths, new cycleways, playgrounds and permissive paths; and
* Other community- led projects.
