Welcome sign to San Sostene City sponsored by Falck
The local municipality will receive 1.5% of both green certificates and sales in royalties. Also, Falck Renewables is providing a minimum guarantee of € 2,500 per MW. Once in operation the local municipality will receive up to € 300,000 per year. In addition, Falck Renewables provided additional benefits to the local community by building a playground, improving the town lighting system, and purchasing new welcome signs for the town, which read “San Sostene – Città del Vento" (San Sostene – The village of Wind). The local community has always shown a strong support to the installation of the wind project in the area. The development of San Sostene represents a significant financial investment. There will be opportunities for local businesses and their employees to benefit from this investment. Falck Renewables’ policy is to use local contractors for construction and maintenance wherever possible. Wind energy developments represent an important form of economic diversification in agricultural economies and rural communities. Wind projects can provide landowners an additional form of stable income during the life of the wind turbines. Environmental benefits from wind farms are quite clear. Electricity produced by wind energy displaces a unit of electricity which would otherwise have been produced from a power station burning fossil fuels. In this way wind energy is able to make an important contribution to reducing global warming.
