Earlsburn Wind Energy Ltd, a subsidiary of Falck Renewables Ltd, proposes to extend the existing Earlsburn Wind Farm with additional turbines to the west and north. A planning application for the proposed “Earlsburn North Wind Farm”, which comprises up to 9 turbines, was submitted to Stirling Council in February, 2008. The Earlsburn North site is situated approximately 12 km southwest of the town of Stirling and approximately 8 km north east of the village of Fintry. The site consists of undulating ridges and hills with several burns crossing the site. Presently the land is mainly rough pasture used for sheep grazing. The wind farm will comprise of up to 9 turbines, each having a three bladed rotor of 90 m in diameter, supported on a tapered cylindrical tower of 70 m giving a maximum height of 115 m. Rated output from each turbine will be between 2 MW and 3 MW.
