Fouy wind farm

Fouy wind farm

The project provides sufficient clean green energy to supply more than 11,000 homes and avoids the emission of around 44,000 tonnes of greenhouse gases each year.

The wind farm is located 40 kilometers south-west of Angers in the Les Mauges region of the Maine-et-Loire (49) department in France. The project straddles both the commune of La Chapelle-Rousselin and St-Georges-Des-Gardes. The wind farm is sited in open farmland, at about 100m above sea level and is situated very close to the A87 motorway. The project received its building permit on 11th January 2007. Construction of the wind farm began in early 2008 and commercial operation began on the 31st March 2009.
The 10MW wind farm consists of 4 Nordex N90 LS wind turbines each rated at 2.50MW with a hub height of 80m. The project provides sufficient clean green energy to supply more than 11,000 homes and avoids the emission of around 44,000 tonnes of greenhouse gases each year which would otherwise have been produced by a power station burning fossil fuel, and 50 kg of nuclear waste who would otherwise have been produced by a nuclear plant. It is connected to the electricity distribution network operated by Electricité Réseau Distribution France at Chemillé.
The wind farm is owned and operated by Parc Eolien de Fouy SAS which is owned 100% by Falck Renewables Plc. Nordex France SA supplied the turbines and constructed the wind farm under a turnkey contract. Nordex now operate the wind farm under a long term operation and maintenance agreement.
