The project provides sufficient clean green energy to supply more than 12,000 homes and avoids the emission of around 23,000 tonnes of greenhouse gases each year.

Availles-Limouzine

Summary

Current status : Under instruction since November 2007
Number of turbines : 7
Expected capacity : 14 MW
The amount of clean energy produced annually is the equivalent to the energy consumed by: 12,000 homes
Amount of CO2 saved : 23,000 tonnes / 65Kg Nuclear waste saved p.a.
Project manager : Bertrand Le Mouëllic

The wind farm is located between Poitiers and Limoges in the Vienne (86) department in France. The project takes place on the commune of Availles-Limouzine. The wind project is sited in open farmland, at about 200 meters above sea level, and next to the Vienne river. The building permit has been deposed the 5 November 2007.
The 14MW wind farm consists of 7 Repower MM92 wind turbines each rated at 2MW with a hub height of 80m. The project provides sufficient clean green energy to supply more than 12,000 homes and avoids the emission of around 23,000 tonnes of greenhouse gases each year which would otherwise have been produced by a power station burning fossil fuel, and 63kg of nuclear waste who would otherwise have been produced by a nuclear plant. It should be connected to the electricity distribution network operated by Electricité Réseau Distribution France at Jousseau or Confolens cities.
The wind farm is owned and operated by Parc Eolien d'Availles-Limouzine SAS which is owned 100% by Falck Renewables Plc.
