Auchrobert Wind Farm is proposed on partially forested hills in South Lanarkshire, 25km south of Glasgow and 6km south east of Strathaven, Scotland.
A planning application was submitted in December 2012 for a development of 12 turbines of up to 132m tip height. Once operational the wind farm would have a total installed capacity of up to 36MW. Auchrobert is located within a local authority defined ‘broad area of search’ for windfarm development. The site is located close to the Muirkirk and North Lowther Uplands Special Protection Area, designated for its suitable habitat and population of Hen Harrier amongst other species; and is potentially visible to civil aviation radar.
